A few sightings of Tarpon and along with them Shark. Backwater: Snook and Reds starting to hit. Passes are great for pompano and mackeral. Scattered trout... Action is Great........

Springs Around The Corner
3/10/02
The weather looks as though it is finally starting to change and so will the fishing. Spring is coming and the fishing will reach its peak. Lately we are seeing the trout and pompano show up. Some small Tarpon back in the backwaters. Soon the big Snook and Tarpon will start to move in. Offshore we are seeing some King Mackeral and a few Cobia moving in. Soon Shark, Tarpon, Permit among others will show. This past weekend I competed in a tournament for Kingfish weighed in a 24 pounder not enough to win but some good points toward qualifing for the National Tournament at the end of the year.
The point is Spring is the very best fishing Florida has to offer so get out and FISH!!! capt. Shaun
Winters Coming
The waters cooling down and the fish are on the move. But they are still here all year round. Not many fisherman in the north can say they catch fish all year round. Backwater, the pompano are hitting well in the passes along with many others. Three days ago we even landed a 40 lb Cobia foraging in the shallow waters. Back inside some Snook a few Redfish and snappers. Offshore lots of Snapper and some large Gag Grouper. This past week, on a fullday,we landed over 20 King Mackeral anywhere from 10 to 25 lbs. The seasons are changing but there are always something to catch. Capt. Shaun
Cooler Water
Well the water is cooling down and the fish are on the move. The Offshore is producing some BIG KINGFISH. Yesterday a 40+ Pounder which we quickly released, maybe I'll get him in my next tournament. Many other Kings and some Large Snapper and Big Grouper. The Backwater, Pompano and Spanish coming in. A few Tarpon way back in, so far back that a Gator tried to eat one while we were fighting him. But the tarpon gave us a long distance release and the gator went hungry. Some Snook, Redfish, snapper and good action.

Fall Grouper
The weather is warm to say the liest but if you can take the heat the Big Grouper are finally here. Some Redfish and Snook are hitting and that will only get better. Some Shark around near shore I even managed to hit one while heading in one day last week. 20 foot of water and a 15ft tiger I think. Didn't get a great look at him. I hurt him alot more than he hurt me. Fishing will get real good here in the Fall. The fish will start heading south right to Marco Island.
